CLASSES AT CHENEY MANSION
The Park District offers classes and programs at Cheney Mansion each season - programs below are divided by family, kids, and adult classes. JUST FOR KIDS PROGRAMS

kids cook logoCooking Classes for Young Chefs (Ages 8-12)
Kids are cooking up something delicious in the catering kitchen at Cheney Mansion! Young chefs follow the recipes in their packets to create gourmet dishes with the assistance of popular, professional chef Ron Martin. The kids learn basic cooking techniques and sanitary kitchen practices, plus sharpen their math skills as they mix and measure ingredients. And of course, the tasting at the end of every class is “the best”! A combination of hands-on and demonstration, these 9:30-noon fun Saturday sessions are limited to 8 students per class. A great way to introduce kids to new foods from around the world, each session costs $50 for OP residents and $55 for non-residents.

Now in its 18th year “Cheney Cooks!” continues to bring a wide variety of culinary experts to the mansion’s catering kitchen to share their skills and specialties. For both novices and the more experienced, class topics range from basic kitchen skills to creating elegant French dinners, great seasonal cooking and exploring intriguing ethnic cuisines. Summer and fall classes include using fresh ingredients harvested from Cheney’s herb and vegetable gardens and the local farmer’s market. All classes culminate in tasting the flavorful results. Classes are limited to 8 students, offering a convivial atmosphere and hands-on, personal instructions. $60/$70.

Cancellation Policy:
Refund requests must be received 2 weeks before the program meets to be eligible for a refund. Refunds within 2 weeks will be considered only if the vacated spot can be filled by a wait-listed participant. A $3 service fee will be charged for all refund requests.
